Sample Letter to Stop Debt Collection Calls

Here is an example of a letter you can send to a debt collection agency to stop their calls under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Under law they have to cease contact contacting you once you send them a letter similar to this. But, you still can be contacted by the original creditor, just not the collection agency. Also the collection agencies have the right to contact you if you account status changes. For example, if they stop the collection, they refer your account to an attorney, or they are going to take legal action against you.

If they refuse to cease contact, you have the right to contact the FTC, Attorney General, or even sue them for damages.
